Okay one thing that baffles me with respect to US politics is how politicians claim the (il)legality of some issue bears great consequences for the welfare of America… and don’t ever look at other nations with different laws. Like, “Oh noes! Gay marriage will bring an end to society!” Except in all those countries where gay marriage is legal and society is still perfectly healthy. They do this with other issues, too, but that’s the one that springs to mind.
