Anyway, I feel like I’ve grown as a writer. I was watching Alien and the beginning was giving me lots of sci-fi/space feels, and so of course my first instinct was to write a Drarry fic. But I’ve always complained about OOC AU fics because… what’s the point? Why not write original material? And so instead of stopping at Drarry I went on to start thinking about an original story along the same lines.
No, I don’t think it’s pathetic at all that my metric for growth is Drarry fic, what are you talking about?
If you try to April Fools me I will punch you in the face.
Cosmetic (non-therapeutic) surgery on an infant’s genitals is always nonconsensual and always a human rights violation, regardless of the perceived superficiality of the surgery. This includes female genital mutilation (FGM), routine infant male circumcision, and genital “normalizing” surgery on infants with intersex or ambiguous genitalia.
Cut that shit out.
Thanks to creative writing club, I really just want to skive off my homework and write for the rest of the evening. My creative inspiration always strikes at the most inopportune times. Over intersession, when I had a month of free time? Nothing. Two weeks into the semester, when homework is starting to pick up? JOE YOU MUST ABANDON SCHOOL AND WORK ON PERSONAL PROJECTS.
In other news, I was cast as Brad for the RHPS shadow cast. :D I’m super-excited.
On occasion I get words stuck in my head from having seen them somewhere and not understanding them. Today’s word is “écossaise,” which is a style of music and dance, apparently.

I think the worst part about being a tattoo artist would be giving people god-awful tattoos
like, not even hearts with SO’s names or misspelled quotes
but like chinese characters on white people
and verses from leviticus that are right next to the one that says “don’t get tattoos”
I torrented them and thankfully the reading seems nice. It’s actually more understandable than the one I already had. Still a fairly upper-class English accent, but not quite so strong.
So I went to the practice rooms for a couple hours. I’m trying to arrange this piece for piano and voice (plus whistling because it just fits). It’s hard :< and I’m really out of practice on piano.
sometimes I think
“I could unfollow you and never look back”
and then I do
The first three HP books are much less serious than the last four. And I don’t even mean in content. Obviously everyone ever dying in DH is more serious than no one ever dying in PoA, but the way they’re treated as books is much different. So much of the Wizarding world is presented as a caricature or as expediently ridiculous, like Dumbledore being ~off his rocker in the first book or the Monster Book of Monsters and the Invisible Book of Invisibility in the third. Things that are totally impractical for the sake of impracticality, just because they’re magical. It’s not totally serious. But in the later books this kind of goes away. We see Umbridge and Fudge being just as nasty, authoritative, and utilitarian as any Muggle.
my collarbone freaking hurts and i don’t know why
